I've just been out for a good thrash in the Avant. Totally stunned by it's capabilities once again and I'm really getting to know how to drive it
Looking at the boost gauge, when at WOT it's usually reading around 0.8 - 0.9 bar which I understand is a little low. It sometimes boosts up to around 1 bar but not often.
I've seen the words "mechanical boost" and "0.8 bar" bandied around, along with "overboost" and "1.2 bar".
From my understanding the car should boost at 0.8 bar no matter what, and the ECU should make it boost higher, due to the stiffness of a spring somewhere
The only time I see any higher boost is if I stick it in 6th at around 60mph (approx 2,000rpm) and mash the throttle. Then it seems to boost really high peaking at around 1.4 bar. But that's only when the car's really really trying to pull - in a normal boost situation it's still between 0.8 and 1 bar tops.
I want to get Homefried but obviously I want to be tip-top first. Is my car boosting too low or is it correct?
