Cat Cams

For anyone who's interested I've just spoken to Cat Cams to seewhat they can do for the S2 / RS2. Their response was encouraging and they do seem to do things differently with a shorter exhaust cam. They recommended the 335s for my application and suggested better spool and midrange. Here's what they sent me through. They're not cheap but all cams are from correct blanks so are brand new.

A small fortune, way over any budget I'd set but for a big bhp project it would be worth it. They also do conrods and Mahle pistons in various sizes. Guy I spoke to (Mat) was aware of a few S2/RS2 engine rebuilds that they've done recently and was interested in the application.

that's a lot of wedge but I suppose that it would cost a lot for all those parts, no matter where you bought them from. I was quoted just under £700 for the cams. Soooooo many other things that I could spend that sort of wedge on. I was hoping for a single cam to be IIR £200 TBH.

Had the interesting idea of using a wilder inlet than exhaust in the same way that many use in the normally aspirated world of tuning... empirically it's been shown that using wilder cams in both inlet and exhaust shifts the torque up a lot, be interested to see what their cams would do, jus tnot willing to take a £700 risk on it

Engine is ready with all of them bits in it (built by Aelred), hopefully will go in late spring.

IMHO It would be money wasted on a standard car, money could be spent else where to give improved performance and power

Turbo/manifold/injectors (going by the 2k mark above) suppose it would help with this setup more.
