    hydraulic fluid top up

The hydraulic fluid container in the engine bay has a maximum mark on the tank. Should it be topped up with the engine off, engine on or just after stopping the engine?

i have always done mine engine off, doesn't seem to bother the system if it sits a few mm higher than the max mark.

Just to check. Is the line a max or min line. Mine is on the line cold. Just had brake fluid service & new discs & new front brake hoses the (!) is going off all the time usually over bumps or on lock or braking. I have checked all but suspect its the hydraulic fluid level/sensor at fault

There are two lines on the ps reservoir Should be on the top one.

I have periodic problems with leaks and i recently had this same problem where it (!) over bumps. I was so preoccupied with the hydralic fluid and as it was no longer leaking and was at the right level i couldn't figure out what was going on. Then it dawned on me, brake fluid reservoir was a gnats on the low side, topped that up and everything was fine

yeah brake fluid sensor is overly sensitive IMO, has to be bang on the line or it gets shirty

As for the hydraulic, whenever i have filled mine its been cold but anything close to the max line and it likes to force it out over time through the float hole, making everything sticky Definately another design from the bloke who created the drainage for the rear screen/spoiler. He was on a uber Warsteiner lunch that Friday me thinks

pretty sure the manual says you need to check the level immedistely after switching the engine off, doubt it matters though
