    Aluminium flywheel, engine rebalance?

Have purchased an aluminium flywheel from 034 for the 01A G/B. Has anyone fitted one of these without rebalancing the engine??

I know the audi I5 is externally balanced (with flywheel) but i've seen people fit 3B flywheels onto ABY blocks so surely can't be too bad?

Its for a 7A engine, and the new flywheel is probably around half the weight of the standard unit. According to 034, ally F/W weighs less than 10lbs.

Can i get away with it????

In an ideal world yes you should rebalance but there are plenty of ABY's running single mass flywheels from the 3B without having been rebalanced the only difference is with an Ally your talking about a bigger weight differential

no i have a 7A engine, so change from standard 7A flywheel to fidanza unit isn't so much. Did you go from the dual mass ABY to aluminium??!?!? thats an even bigger change than mine. Either way thats exactly what i wanted to hear

Can't wait to get it running again,

        Cheers for the reply.
