RS2 if you don't want to strip the engine and replace rods, GT3071 if you want to put rods in it.

is it worth the difference changing to an rs2 one? How much of a difference is there.
      Cheers

Havent RS2 turbo's had a bit of a reputation for bending the rods with the tourque that it produced?

It can if not mapped accordingly, if you want to let it rip you will need rods.

You have coil on plug and won't get scatter so you should be ok with an RS2 turbo.
              BTW How is KEEF?

Other way round, RS2 will bend rods! 3071 doesn't produce as much torque as an RS2 and can be tuned on standard rods with a greater safety margin.

                  Hi Bry,
Keef is quite well, suffered a pos channel death the other day, the forum saved me from an expensive investigation...what about that though, a spare channel. First time ever a car has given me that option.
Ready to gas it now, got my plan im mind, and I dont mind guineau pigging. I must admit I do love the car, and there are a lot of folks round here with plastic fantastic cars who do not like to come heads up with me, or the wife. Every time I upset some spotty with a scoob or evo makes me happy. I know there motors have got the edge but they just aint got the nerve

I want to spend a bit on it, hence the turbo appeals.

                  Bernie

Do you have a boost gauge?
If so what is the maximum that you see?

the gauge shows 15-17psi relative pressure when foot in carpet, and drops off a little after 5000. the turbot has still got its cap on as well.....

                          It's not 280 with 17psi.
                          You would need around 21psi.
Have you checked for boost leaks?

i havent checked, but do have the gizmo for doing so. It has always given this amount on the gauge. As it happens i thought i heard a new hiss yesterday.
Ah, I should check on the weekend.
When I say 15psi, I dont mean absolute. So it may have more to give then, and a leak would make it worse on fuel, as it is thirsty.
Do you take the maf off and do the test from there?

                              Yes, make sure it's tight.
Don't blow the MAF hose to bits like Topsparky did
Lambda sensor could be causing it run rich, do you know if it has had one recently?
