    Fault codes question

    Hello all,

the other day i accidentally reached the rev limiter and i got the fault codes:

00543(rev limiter exceeded) as well as a code referring to the hall sender by its name(cannot remember the code) which is odd as i cannot find what fault code number is reffered to the hall sender itself.

I erased the codes and all everything is fine...

However, today, the fuel pump fuse was blown and i went to a stop from a low speed, but i couldnt understand at first what was wrong. As i plugged the vag checker i got the 00514 code reffering to the ignition timing sensor G4.

    My questions are:

Is the hall sender affected if the rev limiter is reached? Is it supposed to come up?

Is the G4 sensor related to the hall sender?

Should i change the hall sender just in case(i know it is not cheap),or all these things are related to the primary faults at each time(meaning the rev limiter and the fuel pump cut)??

By the way,i was using a 15amp fuse for the fuel pump and using the 044 pump.I changed it to a 20amp fuse just in case...

I also had a loose + pole on my battery and my electric mechanic suggested that on some bump this may have caused the fuel pump cut momenteraly and caused the blown fuse as well...

Hitting the rev limiter should do nothing, except cut out the fuel pump until you get your foot out and the revs drop. I suspect the battery issue was a main contributor. However, you might want to check out this:

nice info,i see the hall sender code 00515...

i read this though which is interesting...

2112 (Blink Fault Code), 00514 VAG1551/2 Fault Code Number
Timing reference sensor, (G4) (located 62 degrees BTDC)
Sensor malfunction, Flywheel pin damaged/missing, Mis-located Sensor,
distance to flywheel pin greater than 1.2mm (3/64 inch), wiring shielding problem for G4,
hall sensor out of adjustment (3B and early AAN engines only)
Symptom: Engine will not start, possible low power
NOTE: I have seen this fault code occur after cranking the engine during a no start condition
in a few rare cases where there was nothing wrong with the Reference sensor or flywheel pin

i did try to crank it several times when the fuel pump fuse was out,and it could be the reason, but on the other hand, the fault came up on the first read after i stopped and then didnt come up after some cranking i tried.

I've been told that the hallsender fault code comes up if you scan the ECU for fault codes with the engine off.
          It's a "normal" fault code.

But don't take my word on it, I'm still a newbie

G4 is crank position sensor (62 degrees BTDC on #1)
G28 is crank speed sensor (rpm by countiing flywheel teeth)
G40 is camshaft position sensor (hall effect for cam on #1)

s2central.net gives more info of course

are there any forthcoming info from these sensors before they become dead?Intermittent perhaps symptoms?

or is it one way out and you are left in the middle of the road?
