    Hybrid turbo build

I've got here an old Wr Ur quattro Turbo (KKK26K) and a later S2 KKK24K - can they be refurbished into a hydrid with 26 compressor, 24 exhaust and water cooled. And if so, does anyone recommend a turbo builder/overhauler?

    Thanks in advance

There's no point doing this. K24 compressor is more efficient and larger than K26 (ur-quattro). K24 compressor, and K26 hot side (for less back pressure) - more like it.

One day I will try this (have few K26's and four or five k24's sitting in garage...).

        Oh dear, have I mis-understood turbo's Sorry.

I'll rephrase the question, 2 Turbo's, KKK26K and a KKK24K... Can a hybrid be made of the two to make better power... And if so, what's the format?

Thanks Bry, once I know what I'm up to, It'd be appreciated!

Not so fast my friend . Doing anything from audi petrol K24 and K26 - requires machining. Audi K24 petrol - IMHO uses 6mm nut, and K26 - 7mm.

So you have three ways. First - you need to find apropriate compressor wheel to fit cold side, or find apropriate hot side. Next - you can precisely machine compressor wheel or axle. Third - the simpliest, (and the hardest for me) - just buy proper turbocharger. It's not so expensive. Uu paid around 2k Lt for K26/K27 fast spool hybrid .

I like machining. Do not like spending k Lt. If I had K24 on my hand... Then quicker thinking/motivation is possible.

Can you please ask AET if an allmost new (some kilometers)large frame turbo needs rebalansing if i change the compressor wheel for a factory new balanced one. i have asked over here and they said that with large frame , holset hx40 turbos like, with no damage, they dont need anything because all the big turbos are ballanced separately. Turbine impeller with axle and compressor impeller separately.

                  thanks
                  Go Holset or Go RS4
