if you have the engine serviced properly, you also replace knock sensors. They are not that expensive anyway.
on a dyno,i had advance retard due to low fuel quality(althouth 100octane) and that was evident on the dyno chart.
Doesnt the motronic has time to do the corrections to reduce knock in time?
    I thought it did!
If the system is checked and works properly,is it not a good safety measure then?

Doesnt anyone use the boost control that comes with the vems ecu?

DTA has closed loop (PID), and open loop boost control. The open loop is mapped against rpm and throttle which can give the car a progressive throttle feel or the "all or nothing" feel.

i`ll be running closed loop which has a target map like lambda sensors, the desired levels of boost are enterd in the map and the ecu will adjust the n75 duty cycle to maintain the current position in the map.

Regarding aftermarket ecu`s controlling knock sensors, Im working on a device that gives the ecu an adjustable timed pulse (in the event of any detonation) which will trigger the ecu to retard the ignition by any ammount you want. This also works in conjunction with an visual and audio box on the dash.

Plus with datalogs you can go back and find out the exact ignition ange which caused the engine to detonate in the first place

the eboost is quite costly andy at 400 quid your right. its the best ebc ive used though.

the reson i got it was that i had/have defi meters etc. i didn't want them on the dash and the wideband and the ebc so i sold my LC-1 wideband, bought a vems gauge as it loos the part and also has egt- 1 less gauge. iused the defi meter boost gauge and got a eboost instead of the avc-r due to space. it fits nicely in the perrin sterring pod and doesn't look too out of place.

i like to keep things simple when mapping whwere possible. i elect to use a seperate controller. i start with it off and get a good "can" map. them its a matter of settin gthe controller and tuning 1 row at a time. once i have tuned to my desired top end as long as i have enough pressure zones mapped i can just turn up and down the boost as i like within my mapped range and its fine.

bout 220 including probes. i sold my lc-1 for 180 and a few other bits. you get egt and WB02 for about a 50% saving over 2 separate ones and without the headache of fitting. goes lovely in those group buy audi pods for the air vent.

works with the vems if need be. i use a probe for vems and 1 for the gauge. seperate.

I use VEMS for Boost control but it is not so easy to adjust. I get the Pressure i want and very fast but it is not so steady as i would like it. Many had succes so i guess i must try some other settings in order to set it up as i would like.

i found i had the fluctuations on the N75. hence reason for changing. id already bought the eboost for my corrado so....

the hardest part is to control these fluctuations. my mate had a problem with an MRT one he had like that. he was an MRT importer and in the end went with a apexi due to the time of setup.

depends what you want it to do and how ,much time you have to do it.

What frequency do you lot run your n75`s at?

I had a problem with fluctuating boost on a haltech ecu and was told the n75`s run best at 33hz. i changed it and it worked fine.

Or maybe its just in the PID settings, assuming it rns boost control in closed loop

Hi, VEMS has many settings but dont know yet what works best. You dont set Hz but ms. You have boost settings with PID but also alternate settings with DC only.

                    @Gnutz2
What settings did you used on the Haltech. Maybe i could try the same out and see hat happens.

The haltech only ran in open loop so all you can enter is the valve frequency (33hz) and the duty cycle which totally depends upon where about in the map you are.

Maybe you could run in open loop to confirm the n75 is operation as it should, then turn on the closed loop to tune your PID settings.

Vems also has a good forum, maybe someone on there will share their setup with you.

today i managed finally to spent some time on the car testing and i ve got the Boost work really well. I am very pleased with it.

How did you sort it in the end?

                          Was it the PID settings?

                          Or the valve frequency?

                          or both?
