    Urgent!!SOS! MAP sensor needed!!!

    Hi again
I just started my car today after a two month of modifying period.
MTM imo fitted, KKK26/27/29, Supersprint exhaust from turbo back no cats fitted (3" downpipe) etc...
BUT......... i have a MAP sensor failure in the ecu. Its BOSCH part n. 027300211, 300kpa fo RS2.
Any idea fom where i can get this part, i mean order it straight away?
    Do you know the price?
Also the car will be running at 1.8 bar so the absolute pressure will be 2.8 bar. Will the 3 bar sensor have any problems with this?
The faulty MAP must be the cause to my problems before the mods too.
Please let me know as soon as you read the thread, because you know the feeling...i have been waiting for this f..... day and know i need this part which is not easy to find...And its friday so the audi dealer is closed tomorow for the weekend although i doupt he will have it in stock!!!!!

I can not see a dealer having these as stock or even parts they can get.

You have done all that but only going to run at 1.8 bar? I was running just over 2 bar with that turbo but original intake.

You have to work out how you broke it? Is it even broken or is it a small bore hose not connected to the ECU? I thought a 3Bar map sensor would be capable of reading 4 bar absolute?

Doug i think it measures the absolute pressure in order to "reply" with the right amount of fuel. At least that 's what the name says Manifold Absolute Pressure. Anyway i was getting the same problem before the mod. I spoke with a few guys and they said that they do fail from time to time.
My concern is that since the car wil be running at 2.0 overboost and 1.8 boost it means that at overboost the MAP will be at its limit.... ( 2 + 1). And it's not cheap. I am sure Mihnea can set the things straight.
Were running over 2.0 overboost? Any problems?

Tahnk you all for the response! Marcus they seem to be better than Bosch but i checked theis r distributors nne does online prder and i need the MAP as soon as possible!!! We have been modifyng the car and waiting for parts for over two months!!! The last ten days e work from 9 am to 11 pm. I am you all have done similar things. So i will try audi main agent on monday morning and if they dont have it i will go with the other options. Today we fitted the EGT and the new boost gauge ( the previous one was up to 1.5 bar this one goes up to 2.5 Apexi). Also a hallmeter which proved that the MAP was going like crazy as the lamda sensor was reading incosistent and continious changing values. The map changing in simple words the fuel arbitarly. Here some pics in a rush:

This was installed between the hose from the intake nad the map sensor. What is it's purpose? Smoothing the change in pressure? What happens if you take it out?

@Nick: the MAP sensor has ABSOLUTELY no influence on an engine's mixture, the MAP sensor is only in the ECU in order to measure and control boost, not in order to control mixture. Mixture is controlled by MAF and oxygen sensor in the exhaust, that's it.

How did you come to the conclusion the MAP is bad? Did it came up as "bad" on the ECUs self-diagnostic test or not?

                          Cheers,

Mihnea is correct. The MAP-sensor has nothing to do with the fuel ande ing. control of the engine. But if the chip has a boostlimit, it will momentarily reduce boost if exeeded, and you will get a faultcode "Maximum boost pressure exeeded".

I would try to disconnect the Lambda-sensor to se what happens, even though it just controls fuelmixture on light-throttle.

I have disconnected the Lambda because the engine is mapped to run a little lean on light-throttle for better fueleconomi. With the Lambda connected it will adjust fuelmixture to 14,7 (Lambda=1), thus making the engine run a little richer than necesarry.

@ Mihnea , the car has the following problem: (it had even from before the mods) It would hessitate just like cutting fuel above 1.1 to 1.2 bar. Sometimes it would go a bit more , but there was not a certain bar pressure that it occured. Then i found out that my exhaust manifold had a small crack so i decided to change it and you know what happens... why not get a bigger turbo etc. anyway to cut a long story short i have installed know KKK26/27/29 ( i wanted to get it from you but you didn't reply), mtm imo,new exhaust man. rs2 oe, supersprint turbo back (3" downpipe) exhaust, and P-k motorsport chips for kkk26/27/29. Alos i have replaced all the hoses so there are no leaks. The two days ago when we tested the car it goes up to 1.3 or 1.1 bar and then it seems like heating a wall, just like the fuel is cut. We replaced then the fuel filter and checked the fuel pump ( the pump is stable in 3.8bar, according to the 3.8 regulator and goes up to 5 bar at wot). Then tested the car but the problem remained the same. Then we replaced the sparks but the problem remained .
Note that when i suddenly step on it the car turbo does not open nd the car runs like it a non -turbo, and in this case the revs go to the limit without hessitation. When i gradually press the throttle a get boost but then the problem occurs. The guy i do the mods with ( which is an expert in BMW, does m3 and m5 mods and is well knon in greece for his knowlegde in bmw) says its the map sensor.
but i really need your help on this as i am sure you have BTDT.Does what i have described give a hint? He has a ecu reader ( autodiagnos) with audi models but nnt the parametres for the RS2. It recognises the ecu and reads any fault codes. The only fault code we get is the rpm sensors which is normal when the engine is off right? ANyway i had then replaced four months ago.
Could this problem be caused by the air sensor behind the throttle (brown small sensor).
Can you help me on this problem? Also can i pm you cause i m interested in getting the chips from you for the KKK26/27/29, and bigger injectors if they are better for this set up?
Is there anything i can do that would point if the map is responsimle for my problem? We did disconnected the small hose going to the map but the problem remained!
Please reply cause i have nt sleeped for five days now waiting to drive the car an now that it is almost ready i get this ......
