    Cam timing marks

Thought this was going to be easy but having re-fitted my cams, think I might be a tooth out. Before fitting I had the 2 '0' marks sitting exactly central with the chain fitted, but on tightening down the marks now appear to be just below the face of the head. Does anyone have a pic showing the exact position looking from the front (not at an angle from above. Thanks. Need to be satisfied it is right before putting everything else back.

THey need to look wrong before you tighten them down... They should align when the caps are tightened... Are you tightening them in the correct order ?

It took me a few goes the first time, you need to line them up a tooth out before you torque them down.

          alignment

That looks like mine, Thought they were too low but seem the same as the pic. When fitting the chain before placing in the head the marks and the centre line of the shafts were all in line which seemed right. Will be torquing down to 11lb/ft. Couldnt get some nuts on to start with and had to lean on the disi drive gear a bit so I could get the nuts started, having got all the others on by 1 turn. Tightened in sequence concentrating on the cylinders that had the toe of the cam on the tappet to reduce stress on the rest of the shaft. once all the threads were coming up from the nut followed the sequence 1,3,5 and 6,8,10. Starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel!
