P18 of the RS2 workshop manual. Coding 4 applies a speed limit of 270km/h

The limiter can be removed by applying coding 1. disconnect pin 38 from earth

        Live and learn
All the test reports I have in old magazines state that there was a 262km/h 163mph limiter, and that it could be ordered without as an optional extra. The limiter isn't on the speed it self, but on the revs in 6th gear.

Are there any other effects (malfunctions?) on the car if you snip the earth wire as mentioned in the posts over?

          I quote that.

RS2 has a speed limiter in the ECU

            Hello you guys,

Thanks for the prompt answer to my question! My car certainly has a limiter, since I´m running 1.6bar boost on the original K26 and It stops at 270km/h (on the clock, that is) like hitting a wall!
I was told about that pin cutting thing, though I was a little bit worried about the consequences of doing that. Didn´t know if it was going to cause me any trouble with the ECU, so I thought it would be a nice idea to ask on the forum if anyone has done that!
So, the thing is: is it safe to cut pin 38 to remove the limiter, then? Has any of you guys already done that? Any help will be much apreciated since even the Porsche dealer around here seems to be unaware (or unwilling to tell) of that!

            Best regards

            Nilo

Just remove the coding plug attached to ECU wiring loom - inside the Apillar on passenger side near the ambient/altitude sensor.

                  Hello Skaala,

I didn´t try removing the limiter yet because I had some eletric problems with my ECU, but as soon as I try it, I´ll let you know. Sorry for tooking so long to answer you!
                  Did you try it yet?

                  Best regards

I agree as Mihnea said something similar to me when mapping my car. In fact he even set it at 40 mph for a minute or two to wind me up!

It worked too, the cars ignition was cut at 40 mph. My car has now been set at an untouchable 199 mph

Just gave my RS2 the beans last night, bang on to the speed limiter!
I was a bit surprised! I would have thought the MTM chips would have got rid of it!

IIRC it was to do with the then OEM tyre capability.

Dunno WTF you need to do that... Just remove/hack the coding plug so that the ECU is placed into CODE 1 state. That is how the ABY is setup - nothing attached to coding plug.

For example - look at S2 wiring for coding plug (T6d) - pin 38 is just open circuit when code plug is not fitted.

No ****ing need to remove ECU pin 38 with a ****ing hatchet !!!!!!!!
