    Afterrun pump needed.

Did a search but most threads are old.

Where is best place for an afterrun pump? Mine is shot!

Don't think you really need one, so long as you remember to let the car idle for a couple of minutes if you've just been thrashing it...

It's leaking coolant so a new one is required.

          iirc listed on the website.

Or you could just bypass it as some people have done.

The pump I got from GSF is still doing its job. Check out this thread for the part number.

This was the first job I had to do on my car when I got it about a year ago. In hindsight I would have probably just by-passed the old one - thus saving cash, and a little bit of weight !

I recently fitted a new pump from GSF on my URS6. Its an easy job to to. As the mentioned posts say the conector is different on the GSF pump but 2 minutes with a knife removes the extra ridges and it then clicks into place properly.

The pump itself will slide into the rubber mounts in a few seconds.

I used a couple of G clamps on the pipes to and from the old water pump whilst I changed it and lost no more than a cup of water in the process, much easier than refilling the whole system and bleeding it.

The original pump collapsed as I removed it leaving motor and impellor in one hand, end housing in the other. Glad it didn't happen whilst on the move!

The GSF unit is much more sold than the std one with screws holding the end cap on the unit. Looks like you can actually strip it and reseal it in the future.

My local GSF had no idea what I was after when I asked for a TCP but found it when I mentioned the auxillary water pump for a T4 van...

Personally I'd go for this type of pump over the original.

According to Audiworld the B5 S4 pump is cheaper than the urS4 part, and swaps in okay. Could be the same one as the T4 pump?

                  Yep, I concure. Absolutely correct.

I did this tonight and will do a bit more of a write up with photo's later in the week!

(First time I have heard the pump running too. It must run for 4 - 5 seconds when the ignition is turned on, so is easy to test... )

                  Cheers,

                  Steve.
