    Should I be worried?

I've had an awful scraping type noise from the turbo when it comes on boost for about the last 5k miles (ever since I had a custom exhaust system put on actually).
Anyway, finally decided to take a look at the turbo and check it for play, on pulling off the boost pipe that comes from the turbo, I found it to have a fine sprinkling of 'grit' coating the inside of the pipe (pipes were new just before zorst upgrade). It looks suspicously like aluminum powder/filings .. Anyhoo, turbine seems to have zero play and I can't see any signs of turbine blade wear (I was expecting the blades to be scraping the casing). The only other thing I could find was a fine build up of cr4p on the edge of each turbine blade (which seemed normal to me).
So, should I be worried? Or shall I just check it again in another 5k miles???

Good news is that I found 2 boost leaks that are now sorted -

i would undo the compressor housing and make sure there is nothing stuck in there being churned up,not good if something gets sucked into the engine
