    Coolant hose puzzle

I have a coolant leak.no surprise there. The leak originates from the short hose/thermostat front connection. You can see it leaking out.
The puzzle is that the thermostat & hose no 8A0-121-109B were replaced in 2005 due to a leak.
What I cannot understand is the routing. Looking at the car the hose from the bottom of the expansion tank joins the short thermostat-aux coolant pump hose as a T section. Its the no 30 & 39 on the F.A. where they do not seem to connect which may be the limitation of the diagram.
Just to confuse me futher ABY photos show the short thermostat hose as a stand alone hose.
    Need someone who has BTDT

#39 goes to the radiator - nowhere near the thermostat area.

Thanks Mike. I have maybe solved it. Checked the RS2 workshop manual. Under cooling system modifications are listed three

'Modified coolant pipe connection Fig 19-348/6 from coolant thermostat housing to heat exchanger, additional outlet for coolant expansion tank'

'moulded part (seal) below coolant thermostat'

'Drive gear for coolant pump,No. of teeth was 29 now 26'

I cannot double check as the reference manual is engine 3B edition 01.91

Looks like another RS2 oddity, can anyone confirm ?

This would explain why that part no hose on the RS2 covers both 30&39 on the family album for a 1995 ADU

Must be the RS2 exception - no idea why they would make this modification.

The pic above was my 1994 S2 which was a non-aircon model.

The RS2 does have that strange hose setup. When Paul was sorting out the original samco coolant hose sets I sourced him one to use as a template.

On the FA they use the same diagram though which makes it difficult to spot.

And having checked the leak again this morning it starts & continues after switching the car off. Its the turbo coolant hose leaking as the aux pump cycles coolant thru the turbo.
Thats beyond me so off to the garage !!!!!!!!!
