Funny things happing on diagnostics ???

I was using the snap on diagnostics tool trying to figure out my bad running problems. and im getting some odd readings for the rpm speed, it seems to be double the enigne is actually doing, and as the car warms up the coolant temperature reading drops to 12 when this clearly is wrong. Also full load switch and idle switch are saying open and closed randomly. I tried my other snap on diganostic the old one and it is saying the same.

Is it the snap on not reading the right data blocks cuase i remember reading some where they tend to make best guess at which blocks are which to display.

The car is has a MTM chip and this is displayed in the details, i got a feeling i have an error with the mfts as my temp gauge has been playing up. Also the rev gauge plays up sometimes and its definatly not the paint peeling.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks Michael

Never used the snapon gear, so dunno if it has the 'intelligence' to adapt what it reads from 3B ECU and display in its own way... BUT I can tell you for sure the 3B provides very little in the way of diagnostic info via OBD. Its only Group 0 with 10 channels of raw data. See www.s2central.net for more info as usual.

There is NO full-load / WOT switch on the S2... There is just an idle switch. Pinouts for the TPS are on S2central.

Where is the snap-on getting RPM signal from - and does it know about 5-cyl timing ?

I will have too look and check if it does understand the 5 cyl signal, I can choose the blocks in manual mode.
With regards to the tps switch that is good news, so will look up see what channels are the "standard" ones which it reads, i think its displaying the data incorrectly.
Have to do some reading up about the snap on.
      Cheers for the help.
