    smoking dilemma

Ive just got the car back after having a new head gasket and the head overhauled (new guides and stem seals etc etc) anyway, i thought the gasket was shot coz the car was smoking real bad. Smoking happened after i fitted:

    New turbo
Oil catch tank and got rid of PCV system

Its seems to happen just on idle so far, but then does sometimes smoke whilst driving. Question is do i have a badly re-conditioned turbo, or have i done something stupid when fitting the oil catch tank to make it smoke. Going to put some decent silkolene oil in tomorrow to see if that makes it better as ive got cheap ****** oil in at the mo. Really doing my head in so much that if someone wants to buy my car then its for sale.

well you could always disconnect you breather system to see if it makes any difference but remember the breather doesnt want to be under pressure or it will smoke like a good un.. I made the mistake when i did my breather and i forgot to vent it ( instead of feeding it back into the inlet which would keep it at no pressure.)
and dont sell it wait untilll fuel reaches about two pounds a litre.. and at least you can look back and say i used to once own one of them.

sometimes black smoke sometimes blue. my catch tank last time i checked was vented to atmosphere so it shouldnt be under any pressure. i dont think its ****ed rings or else it would be blue smoke all the time. suspecting the new turbo....

I seem to recall a comment possibly by volcano_rs saying about the pipes going to the turbo, one of his had a bend/kink that was causing something like this, i've been having a look trying to find the link again.

thanks for that acid, sounds interesting. the pipes are standard so i cant see why they would have a kink or restricted flow but i will have a good look, maybe there is a blockage somehwere. Thanks again, something to look at!
