    Whats my options?

Morning/evening, whatever it is over there. Yesterday my car developed a misfire under WOT load, i suspect the coils as they look well baked, and i am always reluctant to remove the cover as they look so fragile.
So what is my options on replacement, my car is running about 280Hp (1.4 bar) and mechanically totally standard. The plugs have only done 1500 miles, so should be good.

I would go for the 1.8 coil conversion, save you allot of time looking for dud POS's and coils ..easy to install..........not everyones cup of tea I know as it takes away the coil cover away..but i think it is the best fix personally

1.8T coils are not a fix - they are a workaround... Those parts are not specified as highly as the original S2 items. Sure they are cheaper but you get what you pay for... then you have to modify the cam cover to let some heat out in the hope they last longer. Personally I would just pay the extra and get some new originals.

I'll also say that my misfires were cured *purely* with new HT boots on the coilpacks - I figured it was worth a try as mine were brittle and crumbly - and it transformed the car back to full health. Worth a try in my opinion if your boots look tired.

My coilpack boots are only 1.5 year old, so i cant see it being them, they are still all flexy and rubbery. My old ones were like brittle teflon, they just shattered. I agree with you paul, the 1.8t coilpack is not a true solution, i was looking at the aan High output coils on 034, but they ruin the OEM look, i dont want any external coils. If i could do it with coils rated for the S2 (similar to OEM i mean) but delete te POS's then that would be for me the best fix.
            Cheers

For a standard car like yours I'd go for OE coils but if you do go for the conversion then I'd fit 7A cam cover
