Is my fan switch working properly?

    Hi

The rad fan only seems to kick in when the temp reaches about 95-98 degrees - and then it only runs for about 10 secs (which doesn't bring the temp down at all). Could this be because speed 1 is not working? The fan fails to come on when using the AC also, but to be honest the AC has never really worked. The little red light come on when the AC button is pressed in and the blower is on - but there is no cool air!

Any help will be much appreciated!

    Thanks, Ste

sounds like the wiring on the back of the fan as if you look at threads by s2driveruk he has had the same problems. Your fan should always come on with the aircon afaik.

Yep BTDT....you need to check for any obvious issues like wires loose or fuses melted etc. Then pull the radiator fan switch at the base of the main radiator and use some jumper cable (of a decent guage ) and you should be able to hear the 1st speed and 2nd speed fan relays click. from memory the #1 pin-out has a 12v feed, so jumping 1 & 2 should initiate fan 1 (which will come on with aircon) and 1 & 3 should get the jet roar fanspeed2. No relay clicks for either suggest broken relay. If they both fire up and the fan runs then rad switch (or in my case) a bad connection from the terminals to the switch.
