getting ready to rebuild my head...so questions!!

I have a 20v head, a 3b to be exact. I will be replacing my valves, springs, and lifters. I was wondering if anybody knows a good shop/source for these parts. I am not looking for any oversized parts from 034, just good OEM head internals. I am doing a nice reliable daily driver project with my first 20vt motor. So I will be using a k24 most likely and plan to produce somewhere around 300bhp. I am using a stock 7A block with 100k miles on it so I shouldn't need to touch the block since these things are so bullet proof and robust. I have a 3b head with some rs2 goodies, but I will need to take the head to a machine shop and get some stuff done.

So if anybody has any recommendations as to where I can find a good source for head internals that would be great. Also if you recommend anything else that is grealt appreciated.

BTW, I am not replacing the pistons to adjust my compression ratio, I will be using the 034 CR dropping head gasket.

    any help is greatly appreciated!!

    cheers!

You could just use two OEM RS2 gasket to drop the CR, tried and tested by many users here.

      7A block...

Maybe he needs some special 'bored out gaskets'?

The block will need the oil drain hole and the turbo water feed as well.

ahhh yess now i definitely remember somebody telling me that sometime in the past. That is a good idea, and definitely cheaper than 034s gasket.

        Thanks for that

                Tbh...

i'd go the piston route to drop the CR, you'll alwasys want more power in the future and when you get bore of 300 and want 500, just upgrade the rods.

Sorry to add to your list...

Head wise, i'm not convinced on oversize, having had a good look at my 7a head there aint much room. Get the head ported with std sizes.

Well the thing is, i have 2 5cyl 20vmotors. My plan is to build a 20vt 'on the cheap' as my daily driver for now, and my other motor will be the real time consuming/money pit/500hp monster. So for the second motor I plan on replacing the block internals.

but of course if i come across a set of custom JE pistons, scat H rods, and a eurocan crank...haha and the price is right, i could try and fit that in my budget. But odds are I will not find those parts for a super steal.

I definitely want to stick with OEM internals for my head and just get it machined and ported nicely. would you think i need more than just springs, lifters, and valves?

i figure that rebuilding the head, and pairing that with a 100k mile block and a k24 will produce a nice, reliable daily driver. I will probably achieve 270bhp or so depending on my software. I do need to find a wastegate assembly, DP, intercooler, and oil cooler. Other than that I think i have everything. I just want to make sure i have everything covered internal-wise.

oh yeah, Febi-Bilsteins should definitely be good...so i will probably order those sine i need a couple other parts from Paul.

BTW do you know a good source for OEM valves and springs?

I found some valves on ForeignAutomotiveparts.com but maybe there is a better source.
