true, I think for what i'm planning tho I will keep the dizzy and uprate the rods anyways and go for a setup like what ross had in his working car, maybe later on I might change over but atm not that keen on it.

All this talk of GT3071R for a target of a mere 300bhp is overkill folks.

Good software, a good exhaust, bigger/modded airbox and RS2 intercooler will get you extremely close to the 300bhp mark on standard turbo.

As stated, RS2 turbo is bext bolt-on upgrade for 350-380bhp and as much torque as you dare.

Between K24 and RS2 is a small-hybrid option as per Nothelle which uses a compressor sized between the two. This runs to about 320bhp and you could just squeeze that on standard injectors.

I wouldn't consider a Garrett turbo unless the target is in excess of 400bhp - its a lot of extra work and expense in comparison to K24 derivatives. Just mt 2 cents

Turbo Dynamics and AET both offer small hybrids, no experience of them but when I was looking into a standard rebuild they were options. THe TD one is about £350 or so, not too bad but it would require a custom map, great if your car's completely standard, shame if you've already had it mapped...

I'm fairly sure that this has been answered in the thread but a 3071 would be likely to bend rods. A 2871 or RS2 hybrid wouldn't, though- the garrett being more responsive but with less torque and more work to fit it.

RS2 or 2871 can generate 550-600Nm in mid range at big boost levels... 3071 can go more for sure.

Lots of hype on bent rods - MUCH more common 3B due to spark-hop... I'd have no quams about running 550-600Nm on stock rods on any of the DI engines (DIrect Ignition => No dissy).

Lighter / stronger rods are always good...

This all boils down to money, cheapest way is RS2. If you have more of a budget then 2871r / 3071r is the way to go due to superior spool over the RS2 setup.
