    is this a possibility?

well my car appears to have sprung it's first leak-of the air variety
pulled all the charge pipes off and checked them over,re fitted and tightened them up.
I fitted a new maf yesterday and everthing else looks ok.
The problem occurs when you hit the throttle hard,it starts to go but as soon as it reaches around 4000rpm it kills the power(nearly putting you through the windscreen in the process).
I reset the ecu and took it out again, hit the gas and this time it didn't cut the power, although it was seriously lacking in poke. The one thing i remember is a very loud whooshing sound when letting off the gas, even at lower speed/rpm-is it possible that the plastic bypass valve has thrown in the towel and opens even under light boost pressure?
please help-I AM NOT A HAPPY TEDDY!
    It's a love/hate relationship with the S2,i love it,it hates me
