No idea Mark. Custom from a specialist Ti fabricator would be very very expensive. Its the people that only make valvegear and are able to process titanium properly that would be the most cost effective. Finding someone that has already done the 16V Golf stuff (if any) would be a very good starting point as you would pay less NRE (non-recurring engineering costs...ie setup/development charges).
Whatever happens though, Buying multiple sets in one hit is a sure fire way of making big savings. I spoke to a few people about knocking out 5-10 steel cranks, cost breaks on big batches of Carillos, Pistons in large quantities and you will be absolutely amazed how much money you could save. Getting 10 like minded guys together could actually make some of these mods much much more affordable....although still very serious and not quite your average Group-buy territory. Forged cranks only became cost effective on a run of a few hundred though :S. I am sure there are some nutters out there who would interested in a few of these. IIRC the first cost break on Carillos was 9 units and the next at 25.
