error code 65535

[Knight Rider S4]

Having issues with the coupe and it is popping up with this code(has done this for the previous owner to)whats linked to it to, i think it is stopping me from opening the rest of the controllers on vag.com ..Is this possible..The only controller opening/reading is the engine ?..The problem is not the software or the cable as the i have tried it on another car and it works fine

On a search here it indicates poor earthing or crap chips in the ECU

Is there any other earths apart from the ones on the manifold i should look for ?

without going into the 1's & 0's, it's an internal checksum validation quirk, can come from any chip that's been modified, nothelle, mtm, etc,etc, you got a standard chip set as far as you know, if so I'd been going down the earthing options.

if reading the 65535 through vag-com , it'll show you whether you've got a standard chip at the header of the page where it outputs what it's found ...

Its a 3b isn't it?as far as i know the engine fault codes are all you can check on it,abs is not supported.Not sure about logging either.

All the items that are mentioned in that thread are now fixed...apart from error code.new VR sorted the charge issue,the fuse/relay plate was screwed so changed the over,new lamdba

Another code came up for air temp sensor fault (one on manifold i think)

The car still has the issue were it is only boosting to 10psi so trying to work out if any of this is responsible as all the hoses are tight as f ,DV is working

Have done output test and all is working as it should

Well after a bit more investigation..I have found that there is a broken wire in the Air temp sensor which by the looks of it will be causing the lower boost figures as explained on SJM..http://www.sjmautotechnik.com/troubl...g/20vairt.html


Have the ECU on my lap so going to strip it and finding out what has been done...Have checked all the earths and they are fine

Well opened the ECU

And have found there is only a 200kpa installed (standard)...The only thing that has been played with by the looks of it is the fueling chip?











Thoughts gentleman?
