How much "blow by" do you get

Just curious as to how much oil is left in your catch tank when you've taken it out for a thrashing. Im using the totally standard sump with the steel breather system venting from the crankcase and the head into my catch tank.

I suppose im asking anybody with 500+hp with a similar ammount of G's exerted on the sump.

I was very suprised to find over half a litre hiding in my tank when i empied it the other day.

My UR runs circa 450bhp. I have a return that goes to the sump. I appreciate it doesn't answer your question but may stop you having to empty your tank.

I need to 'adjust' my pipe work as linking it back to the inlet has meant that it collects almost nothing! Mind you it's done about 100 miles since I fitted the tank so I suppose that's not suprising. Again, doesn't answer your question directly but in my case 0 at the mo.

From my experience with Golfs I found that after a good thrashing over 200 miles I'd get 150ml or so in my catch can. I am yet to fit one to my S2.

it has been known for 16vt golfs to fill the tank on a 1/4mile run. case pressure as stated. mainly on the higher boost cars.

on the 2l beetles the breather for the rocker cover is built into the filler cap. fitting one of these helped a golf no end but i dont think the audi system is as bad. not sure if one of these will cleare the bonnet either.

My aggressively mapped RS2 + set up (maybe around 380bhp or so) would dump about half a litre, maybe a little less after a weekends hillclimbing. That's around 8 to 10 standing starts and about 10 competitive very twisty miles...

I did want to do a leakdown test at some time, but never got round to it.

piston rings are about 80% efficient so the more power (boost) you have more blow by you have, still does not answer your question.

I suppose this makes sense as i've never run over 2bar boost before and i've never had a problem with blow by.
