Guys..I'm very worried about something, I'm using a semisynth 10W40 from GreenStar, the oil when cold raises the pressure to 3bar from 600rpm...but when hot, at 80°C, at 850-900rpm the temp decreases to 1.7bar and the first alarm from oil pressure turns on... The engine has 160K kilometers, since I turned on the engne with the new oil, but old oil filter (still being the oil filter that the UrS4 had 5 years ago). That alarm freaked me the hell out! Any opinion?

The oil temp guage on our cars is almost useless... Oil temp should be around water temp when cruising around... WIth hard driving you can see it rise to 110-120 - maybe 130 on bigger power machines... but the guage goes to like 170 which I dunno is useful for anyone. Just a little niggle of mine.Paul Nugent

That's got to be a Banzai challenge, who can get their oil temp to 170 cThe oil temp guage on our cars is almost useless... Oil temp should be around water temp when cruising around... Stiglett going round combe had 130 on his, the car still went well but when I was watching his gauges out of interest on the way round the oil pressure dropped for a moment as he went thru the chicane, hence why he's after fitting an oil cooler. The oil temp guage on our cars is almost useless... I did it on my 20v fwd on the way home from buying it, the seller told me it had a small leak in the aux rad which was a lie. It had a bigger hole in the main rad, I kept topping up water and checking the oil, stopping and letting it cool down but was running out of time to get to work.
I had the oil temp off the gauge, the water temp off the gauge and the oil pressure on tick over under 2 bar (close to 1 bar)
It got from just before hatfield tunnel to baldock outside stevenage and siezed up about 1 mile from where I was parking it.
I had no time to get a pickup and my only option was to drive it.Comment

I have a Mocal oil cooler after seening 130+ on track, needed a new cooler anyway, but been running this for a while. I never see temps much over 70 whilst cruising and havent looked at it when giving it a bit. Is this not too good running the oil at these cool temps? Could just be the sender needs replaced though.
Oh and cold i have around 5bar, warm around 2 bar mayb a tad less, cruising warm 3-4 bar. HTH
