    GT35 or GT3076?

I was wondering what the differences in hp and efficacy of turbo would be between these 2 turbos:

    1) GT35 .63AR

    2) GT3076R .82AR

Im seeking to achieve a reliable 470-500hp,with possibly maintaining the MAF in the original position and OEM maf as well.I know the MAF's limits are the 450hp but id rather have that with OEM maf,or move it to the pressure side, than probably build a bigger one and remap. All my options are open though..

So the question is mainly on the 2 above turbos.

What would the characteristics of each be?What would the limitations?
Which one would achieve the 470-500 number more easily without cylinder porting or cams? and possibly with the EVO RS2 T3 flange manifold?

What would you recommend? What are the lags?

I think you need a remap anyway when you move the MAF to the pressure side Papvas.

I know,a remap is needed in any option. However by maintaining the original MAF i wont have to deal with resistors,or cutting and making new plugs, and possibly difficulty in mapping something that might give 'best guess' results from the mapper rather than using the knowledge of the OEM maf.If im given of a well done alternative OR an assurance of stability of the OEM maf then i will go with the choises at hand

what fuel? IME, the practical limit on pump gas for the 3076 is around 340whp. For the 35, a little over 400. Much more power is acheivable on race gas, E85, or water injection. Around 460whp max for the 3076 and near 600whp for the 35. I am not sure what the flow limitatiosn of the EVO Rs2 manifold might be, so you'll want to watch your EGTs carefully once you start playing in that range.

Engine management wise I'd be looking at VEMS, but then again I'm biased because I sell them

yea i figure you would say that about Vems.I havent dismissed Vems, but im thinking of Motronic, hence talking about mafs still

Gas wise im talking RON 98 only, not race gas.Car is to be able to be used everyday

A GT35R won't fit on a RS2 Evo manifold, that is a direct quote from Mr Wagner himself

oh i see....might have to go tubular then...

I dont dispute, I had no BTDT with the Rs2 Evo and GT35. Where is the interference? I'm guessing cold side housing to #1-2 runner? How tight? I've ground cold sides to gain clearance before with success.. but then again a GT35 is an awfully big turbo to be putting on a short runner manifold..

Cold side housing, the GT 35 has a 0.70 AR housing and the GT3076R 0.60R housing

There is only about 3-5 mm gap between the compressor housing on the 3076r and my RS2 evo manifold. No way a GT35r would fit, I didn't believe Carsten until I had my manifold

Nothing wrong with the RS2 short runners as they are about 38.5 - 40 mm but if you were running a GT35r you would want a tubular manifold like Jeffer makes

Unveiling at BMW Netherlands The HPninet has been unveiled by BMW on the bikeshow in Rosmalen. after a small introduction talk the cover was pulled on the bike. It remained 3 days on the show.

now if we could just convince them to go through with the SQ replica... I'd buy one. make that 5 (yes, really).

if i were to have a tubular manifold made,it would be from steel 4mm width, probably ceramic coated to avoid corrosion and hopefully use as less welding as possible.

Rob was telling me of a chap that was able to use a bending machine to create manifolds, rather than welding bends and straight parts all together.Obviously there are weldings on the collector and the flange, but the less there are,the less the probability for cracks..

on the other hand,if someone made a weird flange for the EVO manifold, couldnt it be made to fit AND not have the hotside reach the fender as well?

You could make a spacer plater yes, you'd need longer studs and the turbo would have to have support brackets.

You took the words right out of my mouth...

I think I'd go 3076 unless it was purely a track or sprinting car. Even then the 3076 might be a little large for every day so as ever you end up back at the 3071 .82 route...
