    ECU chips type

I had a search but i could'nt find anything so.....
A member of our Club in Italy bought an RS2, unfortunately the car was a buket of problems and eventually he found that the car was (BADLY) been remapped.
I had my originals chip and so i sende over to him to try the OEM setup of the ECU.
The car it's perfect with the original eproms.
Now the problem is: He does'nt have originals eproms from the previous owner and he does'nt want to have anything different from the original setup
i on the other hand don't what to sell my OEM eproms because i want the chance to put them back if i need.
I have a friend that has the eprom emulator/burner to make a copy of the OEM ones but this guy can't quite understand the model of the original eproms (the brand it's Texas Instrument) so he can't determine entrances and connections.

Anyone here can give me a model and code for a couple of eproms that are good to make copy of the OEM ones?

    Thanks for the help

    Stefano

MOst EPROM burners have an option to 'auto detect' the device type from a signature they can extract off the chip thru some clever sequence. There is a variety of TI, Austin & other vendors used which sometimes cause confusion. But the basic device types are as follows -

Boost Chip = Intel 87C257 (or TI variant)
MOtor Chip = 27C512 (you can program as generic if need be)

      Thanks Paul very appreciated!

I call the guy and he told me that he has them in stock but there's a "D" before the code you gave me... so:
      D87C257 and D27C512

      Are them alright?

      Thanks again.

      Stefano

      P.S.
I'm a marble worker so...... sorry but what's "TI"?

LOL - jus forget the 'D' - lots of chips carry all sorts of almost meaningless numbers...
