Every engine combination is different and you also have production tollerences to consider. To get it right you really need a dyno and some serious "trial and error".
On a std or near std engine with std cams it doesn't make much of a difference, but on a 600hp engine with hotter cams it's easy to gain / loose 50hp with right / wrong cam adjustment

        It did :mischeif:

Took the car out a few hours ago and TBH it didnt feel very good.

Dont worry just yet because i had quite a few problems, to start with i kept bouncing off the rev limiter because i decided to lower it a bit. Then the bloody gear linkage middle slide in joint decided to pull apart when i pulled on the gear stick a bit too hard. This then dragged along the road for about half a mile until i could stop, this bent the gear change rod 180 back on itself.

I did manage to get home in 1st gear and bend the rod straight again but never managed to take it back out again.

        I`ll try again tomorrow

Totally agree here - I see the adjustable pulley as a means to compensate for tolerances and for things like when the head is skimmed.

The other advantage of adjustable cams is for situations like this where (if you have enough patience) different setting can be tried to adjust the engines power delivery to taste for any particular setup (comp ratio, turbo sizing etc etc).

But to Aelreds point I agree in that I don't think the adjustable cam pulley is the answer to all valve timing related issues either - it can fine adjust around the basic profile of the camshaft, but if the wrong cam is fitted then no amount of adjustment on the pulley will fix things...

Yonks ago, somebody posted a table of all the know camshaft specs but I cannot find it. It would be useful data...

ANybody else feel like a searchfest ?

Tis a good reminder too that the RS2 has that funky camwheel to skew the ABY inlet cam timing, but of course it has much higher lift on the exhaust cam.

Must admit - I would like to play with this a little bit to see what (if any) gains can be quantified on an anotherwise stock engine/turbo config - may need ECU tweaks to play along with them. I think an adjustable cam pulley and an adjustable cog on the exhaust cam could be a good combination to try with ABY inlet cam and 7A exhaust cam.

I saw it the other day, perhaps best to clean it up and sticky it if it's not already. Had 7A, S2, RS2 and NM specs in there IIRC.

Just tried to search and it's only coming up with results from this year...
