    turbo question

hello folks, if i were to fit a kkk 26/27/29 turbot on my car(which is running about 280 odd as it stands) how much could i take it up to considering the standard hardware on the engine at the moment. the reason i ask is that i want to get the turbo, fit it, then further on buy a bunch more bits to get the best out of the turbo upgrade. I know im being a bit tight, but i can afford the turbo now, but will have to save a little to get injectors/cam/ic/rods etc.
i know ive got to remap it after the turbo fit, but will it give me a nice extra lump of power until i can find more parts.
    all the best, Bernie

I think 330 bhp has been done without changing anything but the turbo and the map.

Why would you want to fit the turb, map it and then remap afterwards because thats an extra £500 which you could use to be parts IMO.

Buy the turbo and wait until you have all the parts would be my advice

KKK26/27/29 will have enough torque to bend rods, but standard manifold and fueling will limit it, as others have said.

To me, it seems a bit wasteful to spend extra money on a large turbocharger if you aren't prepared to upgrade the fueling and other engine parts to go with it. The 26/27/29 is going to be pretty laggy. With uprated fueling, cams, and an improved inlet and exhaust manifold you would be seeing 400+bhp when it's all mapped up but like I said, the rods would become an issue.

My 2p, pick up a bigger turbo (Garrett is a better bet than KKK anyway due to bearing design) and wait until you have the parts to build a more sturdy engine better suited to the turbo before jumping in there with a massive blower.

I would change the EM as well as the turbo, to be on the safe side.
It's still an extra 50 bhp at the end of the day. You could get used to the extra lag while you source the other parts. If you don't mind the extra remap costs then go for it I say.
