Dump valve - Which way round?

I took all my boost hoses off last week, to replace them with my Samco's. Came to put the Samco's on today, and I've er....forgotten which way round the dump valve goes. I've plumbed it in with the small stub for the vacuum pipe, facing the inner rear wing. So that one of the large ports that is coming off at a right angle and is going to the pipe that connects to the intercooler/turbo hose, and the other large port is straight in to the turbo/MAF pipe.

    Is this right?

Can take pictures if need be.

From memory the vacuum pipe has to face in the direction of the floor,i made the same mistake a few weeks ago when i was replacing my turbo/trying to find boost leaks.

Vacuum pipe should be point towards the drivers side wing, not up towards the bonnet.

      Sounds like yours is o.k

It can run better in reverse, trial and error with that one as it depends on which dump valve you have.

On a stock TBV - the control port faces the drivers side wing - Jamo is right there.

On a stock TBV - that is the only way to fit it, as boost pressure forces the valve shut and its only opened when vacuum sucks on the control port to open the valve and let the pipe pressure recirculate... If you fit a stock one back to front then the boost pressure squeaks the valve open as its forcing against a fairly weak spring as opposed to a hard stop.

I have heard some folklore about Forge and other piston type TBVs that work better backwards but I have no personal experience with them.

Its only a standard Bosch item. Nothing fancy. I'm glad to hear it sounds like I've got it right. I foolishly carried on putting all the other pipework on, assuming it was correct, so its now fairly buried.

            Thanks everyone
