    HP limit with standard cams

    Hi,
What is the maximum hp that can be achieved using standard AAN cams. I dont want to loose low end drivability; but I also don't want to potentially restrict my GT3071.
My head has not been ported and polished.
    Thanks

a 3071 is quite small so i dont think the standard cams will restrict it.

i got something a fair bit bigger and i may go back to the standard cams soon as the 7a ex cam with aby in is a tad flat at the bottom end but revs cleaner.

its all a trade-off between top end and low down pull. being a heavy car it needs i feel some low end pull unless its a track only car

Its more an everyday car so I would like optimum low and mid range. Having said that though I would like to see the right side of 420hp. As like you said the car is heavy and needs all the help it can get.

Cams wont be a limiting factor, there are 600bhp+ S2's out there on stock cams.

You'd need to worry more about head porting and exhaust sizing way before the cams are limiting your engine.

3" turbo back exhaust with race cat.
The head has been rebuilt, but not ported and polished. Also, the headgasket is standard thickness, so compression remains standard.
So what is the standard head capable of?

Over 400 bhp, but porting helps tremendously.

              Is 440-450hp obtainable?

With a 3071r? potentially yes but realistically it's more likely going to be 420-430 from other forum members running the same setup.

would a 0.82 hotside increase the hp potential or make the turbo more top endy?

Both - but the smaller hotside helps with low end tractability - less lag - same old turbo trade off shenanigans...

I dont know what this sort of hp is going to feel like. My S6 was standardish and it felt quick.

Personally I would not trade the spool of the .63 for the extra lag and bhp of the .82 for a street car.

Depends what is more important to you personally, driveability or bhp figures?

My turbo is a 3071 .63 hybrid and pushes to the limit of an RS2 em say 440bhp, everything i have had fun with, regardless of power, is still catching me up at 100mph which at such speeds, in my opinion is point made...

For a road car i would never trade high horse power numbers for torque and drivability, after all its how it feels not what the dyno's say..

I have an RS2 manifold aswell. I'm also fitting a catch can so this might help a little. Do you have an S2?
