I shall quiz the wee man tomorrow. I've got 3 MOTs booked, so he'll be busy.

I spoke to Tom about this today, and as I suspected I get the feeling Mihnea could do it, but you can imagine the amount of work it would take. Just look at the guys running VEMs and other stand-alone ECUs, it just takes forever to get them to run right in all conditions.
I bet there's not many people that would want to pay for Mihnea's time to map a MAF-less Motronic M2.3.2 system, or if he would even want to spend the time doing it.
We already know that Mihnea can map without a MAF after it's signal has maxed out, even though most tuners were ditching Motronic because of this 'barrier'.

really though if tuning for a specific area of rpm and load is done in one car, then possibly the rest could be done easier as there wouldnt be much different anyway. I mean even different turbos and setups wouldnt require a lot of work on top of that first car.

has anyone ever gone to Mihnea with this question before? i bet there would be quite a few that would like something like this...+ a lot more that would upgrade easier as well

Exactly my point. If he does one, then everyone will want it done.
I know Mihnea likes to stick to the norm if he can. Less work that way. It's not like he's short of things to do.

That makes no sense , progress is good, look at S2central.net playing and developing generic dual maps.

It's been offered and developed to the S4 guys, I can't see why it couldn't be done for the S2 guys if it's possible.

MAF's are now £200-250 in price brand new, paying a little extra to map a car to remove a troublesome part that often fails would be welcome by the masses

if its done like the smt6 then it basiocally uses a table to map maf voltage to map pressure. maybe its been tried and the older ecu not AS GOOD as the normal map.

tuners names are broken in one bad hit be it correct or opinion and made over years either due to great work as is the case or forum propaganda as ive seen before.

Other than "germantoy" (Nick), I haven't heard of too many people in North America going down that (rolling) road.

In the NAmerican UrS world, it is becoming more common to go with VEMS, using Marc Swanson's (a4kquattro's) talents and conversion harness that allows at least AAN's to be made plug and play for VEMS tuning. Lots of flexibility. Here is a link to Marc's info and his website:

                    Hey Guys,

I tuned nicks car maf'less. This is somthing I have no desire to ever do again . Maf'less tunes require 4-5x's the amount of mapping time as a basic maf'ed tune.

Just buy a VEMS from Mark and be done with it.
