Pro Speed 3" down pipe project

As some will have read, I've just had a system fitted by Pro Speed in Cardiff, despite some issues with the spec (the current DP is a hybrid between the OE S2 and 3" pipe), I can vouch that their workmanship is good and Charlie has a professional attitude. My car will be going back to have a 3" DP made up and he'll be making a jig up too for at least a 6 speed car, not sure of the other differences? If you're looking for such and item then post below and I'll keep it updated with my progress.

This is something that I would probably be interested in as when I replaced my exhaust the other day from cat back what it is all looking a little tired!

Does he do cats? What sort of price is he estimating?

    thanks, Paul

Can I ask a stupid question - Will this work with S2 EM only - I can't remember if the RS2 EM mates with the downpipe in a slightly different position ?

Oh and another stupid question for Andy - your car has the SM flywheel and the 6-speed gearbox spacer removed... Didn't you jiggle the engine rearwards to bring it all together again ? If so, that might complicate plans for a downpipe template.

The RS2 downpipe bolts straight in place of the ABY downpipe I'm led to believe... I hope so anyway as I've bought an RS2 downpipe to go on my S2!

Oh right - what is diameter of RS2 DP versus the S2 one then ?

i have sm flywheel conversion on mine. IIRC it only moved the engine back about 5mm and with a 3 downpipe i think u have to lose the cv heatshield anyway which give about 20mm clearance so shouldnt be an issue.

I would be up for a 3b 3incher......i wonder if he can make them in such a way that the top secion is generic and then there is a separate bottom section if needed for 3b/ABY/RS2. I guess he could always stipulate a sport CAT setup then it should be the same for all as the routing shouldn't be to different?

Seems like there's a good response to this, I thought there might be.

Paul, the engine in mine is in the originl position as it was never moved, the box was moved forwards and as a result is a little toight on one of the transmission mounts. It's on the to do list! I'm either going to mod the mount or fit the offset ally subframe bushes and get a 2for1 deal Either way the engine stays put.

As stipulated by others, I believe that the RS2 DP is 2.75" over the OE S2 2.5". The hybrid DP I have is a 3" pipe sleeved over the OE S2 pipe just after the WG pipe entrance and I think it works pretty well on a standardish car, if you're looking for a budget orientated upgrade then that's the kiddie! I also noticed earlier that they fitted a second lambda bung as I asked :thuimbs: means I can run a separate WBO2.

As for cats/no cats, they're a custom exhaust place and so I guess you'd get the DP made on the jig and then stipulate what you wanted on the rest, if you wanted to buy one without them fitting it then that's up to you do define how you want it, i.e. 3" plain pipe ready for welding or flanged, their sports cats are teeny tiny but as yet I've not had an emissions test done. As to whether it'll fit every car... the S2 seems jinxed at the best of times, better to have it all done at the same place in my book.

System seems to have freed it up a touch over the OE DP, cats and Milltek

3Think they use Rosi cats which are about the best so i'm told....do you know if they used a 100 or 200cpi version on yours Andy? on mine which only required the BET test at MOT time, i am told I can get away with a 100cell which is close to having not cat in place at all
