Hot start problem - no fault codes

    Hi guys,

I having a problem and hope you can help.

My URS4 runs perfectly until I switch her off, then she wont start while hot for an hour or two, but no Vagcom fault codes. The fuel pump runs, there is fuel pressure , but no clicks from the injectors, and no spark. Then when cold, she starts first time and idle's perfectly. For some reason the injector output test also does not work (no clicks) not even when she does start.

    Ay Ideas?

Sounds like the classic hall sensor issue. The sensor behind the cam wheel needs replacing.

As Jamo indicated sounds like hall sender problem, should be logging codes though, what version of vagcom are you using , can you post the output ?, when the engines running you should be able to feel each injector pulsing ?

took out the dizzy. I see the pin holding the gear on the end is halfway out - not good, plus there's a lot of goo stuck arounf the sensor. I rekon it coyuld be the hall sender - thanx! I'll get a 16V golf hall sender tomorrow and check.

Yep sorted - it was the hall sensor - and it didn't even give a fault code... Thanx for the help!

            Two questions:

            1. What is the build date of your car? We recently figured out that the last AANs were built with hall senders in dizzy tuna can in Feb. 92. You say your car is a 93. (We have some "93" UrS4s in Canada that are 92 spec and I wonder if S.Africa got the same deal.

            2. A 16v hall sender is a drop in for your AAN hall sender in a can? That would be great news.
