JE Piston Ring end gap and cylinder wall clearance specs

So I have a set of JE pistons I just got in to build up my 7A block with(bored to 83mm, scat rods, stock crank) and was wondering what specs people on here have used with their builds. This is going to be a built street motor with 400+ whp, eventually over 500 if I am lucky. Looking to run 25-30 PSI of boost but may lower it since 25 and 30 are two different kind of levels. My spec sheet says to use .004" wall clearance with the provision that some apps may require more clearance. What wall clearances are people here using?

As far as ring end gap per inch of bore I have heard all sorts of varying responses. I read a thread on motorgeek where .0035-.004" is recommended, JE general specs say to use .005", when I call JE they said to use .005" if I kept boost below 25 psi and for anything above that to use .006", then my friend who has some built Volvo motors recommended going even bigger and using .007"

Also I've seen people on here talking about using a torque plate when boring out the blocks. How critical is it to have one?

Just wondering what specs people on here have had luck with when using JE or other forged aftermarket pistons.

The motorgeek thread is correct use 0.0035 - 0.004

Torque plate is preferred if you can access one although it can be done without it without issues.
