I think sometimes subtlety has to take ...well, not necessarily a back seat, but certainly a passenger seat ...to the functional integrity of the system in question.

I will bow to anyone with superior knowledge, but I assume that as long as the air passages are not following too convoluted a path, the cross section merely has to match or exceed that of the intake on the turbo compressor?

I have visions of letting some openings into the wing, bonnet and potentially around the left of the headlight to the grill area, anything that allows the headlight to remain in place for the purposes of normal road legal use. I've got a small selection of carbon ducts that were originally destined for (shhh) Subarus which could come in handy and are fairly discreet in their design.

I never got a chance to test it but i thought it would work nicely. I would considered plugging the stock intake of the air box and just feeding it from the modified side of it.

I would of tried it out with the v8 setup but I relocated the remote mount oil filter to the passenger fender for room in the engine bay and plumbing for the rotrex supercharger some day.

If some one was clever enough and had the stock oil cooler you probably could make a duct that fed the oil cooler and air box.

I chose not to choose life: I chose something else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who need reasons when you've got quattro?

never thought id see jamo write that a cone was worth it. take it you have one now.

in the correct location its worth it.removing the airbox and fitting a cone up there is IMO wasting time ,money and HP as per espen.

            Posted that 2 years ago!

Actually yes I have a cone filter and I have hopefully a solution to stop it taking in hot air.

Terrybullwon is rubbing his hands at this point in time to help me fit it

Is it going to stick out the top of the bonnet

I was thinking of a turbo heat shield, something like this:-

i made one like that for my G60 but it went the full engine bay length. witht eh turbo its harder than with the SC.

i had 1 hole in the shield for the inlet pipe and it bolted along the line of the outside edge where the airbox was. helped loads. was actually quite cool in there.

on the audi i just have the big cone down the front where its cool.

Just doing a cardboard template for a heat shield... should be a simple and very cheap option
