Where's this coolant getting out from ?

Noticed the coolant level repeatedly dropping in the expansion tank.

Also noticed coolant staining under the turbo side of the engine. Between the middle to front of the turbo side of the engine. Staining on the starter also.

Is this a known fault and where might the coolant be coming from?

Haven't taken anything apart yet, but it is well tight in this area of the engine bay and so I can't immediately see where the coolant is coming from just by looking at it from the top engine or from underneath the car?

Any thoughts?, loses about half a glass on days short journeys totalling say 20 miles.

There is a short hose that goes onto the block down there, IIRC it's the coolant feed hose from the block to the turbo. Could quite possibly be that.
It's a hardline type pipe from the turbo that terminates in a rubber hose end, that then pushes onto a take off on the block.
Bit of a bitch to get to, easier from underneath, but possible from the top with the airbox removed.

I'm trying to remember back. I'm going to edit above, it's easier getting to from above cos from below the oil filter housing is in the way.
I just remember this being a bitch when I was helping Mark (Rotoryboy) with his car a few times.

Hell, what am I admitting to? , but I haven't got the FA on my computer at the minute. I've just done a complete HDD wipe and clean reinstall of XP, and not got round to reinstalling the FA yet.
I'm sure someone will supply info.

Here's a picture taken from James's (terrybullwon's) project thread, of the pipe I'm referring to. Hope he doesn't mind.
You can see it coming from the middle core plug.
I'm not saying it's that that's leaking, just giving a possibility

Sounds like that pipe alright, or one of the connections on the turbo. Looks like a ****** to change as you have the EM and turbo covering it from above, if your stuck you can always borrow one of my hoses..

If it makes you feel better i found a leak in our S4, looks like its coming from the water pump itself

Have the brake calipers to hand, and also the boost leak test kit, although it seems the S4 is OK now?

Would be pleased to be able to view your pipe and also take a part number etc..
