    Can somebody please help me?

I know this isn't S2 related but i've got a bit of a problem and i was wondering if any of you guys could help me out.

I'm currently driving a Corsa 1.4 16V and yesterday after parking up and turning the engine off for a couple of minutes I noticed alot of white smoke coming from the exhaust after I turned it back on. I checked the coolant and topped it back up as it was below the minimum mark. But while in Stoke last night i noticed the engine temperature rising without the fan kicking in so i pulled up and waited for the engine to cool down and checked the water which was empty . I have checked for white gung on my oil cap but can't seem to see any and the car seems to be running really well. I'm really puzzled cus the same thing happened last year and it was running really lumpy and would hesitate through the rev range but there are no such problems this time.

Plus a few months ago i noticed that there was a lot of pressure building up in the header tank and coolant seemed to be escaping from the top .

Your help will be very much appreciated. And sorry for the lack of S2 content .

    Cheers
    Tyrone

Sounds like the head gasket has gone. I had the same symptoms on the polo I used to drive. It ran perfectly until it was really hot.

If the head gasket has blown between the water jacket and the piston bore you'll lose water and get pressure in the header tank but you want get gunk in the oil.

Yeah this is the second engine thats gone pop on me in the space of a year and a half . What would be the best thing to do? Get the head gasket repaired or just put another new engine in?

It would have to happen at eh worst time aswell just as i'm about to sell it .

fix it! its an easy job on one of them and not that expansive as long as its just the gasket...
