There has been a thread going on the RS2 yahoo forum for a few days about the undertrays.
Seen a pic of them and it has a large cut out where the two small intake/outlets are on our cars, would it be worth modifying the undertray to look similar to get better airflow thru the IC?
Worth a thought - deffo... Would be tricky to quantify a benefit, except maybe before and after high load / high temp acceleration runs on the same day/road etc.
Porsche / Audi wouldn't have done that for a laugh, so there may well be something in it
That opening is there for a reason. I remember when I was at the dealers, it was a mod for the mechanics benefit. The tech bulletin read:
" In the case of technicians dropping tools into the engine bay area of the Audi RS2, we are now supplying all new RS2 models with cut outs in the tray from week 18 build dates. This new undertray is also available under the manufacturers defect reporting system as a free of charge replacement to all existing owners using warranty claim number DF-8C-823Q. This will enable the technicians to retrieve their tools whilst completing a vehicle road safety inspection test. Drive the vehicle to an open road and whilst no other vehicles are in the area, accelerate hard to 30mph, then brake as hard as you bloody well can and the tools will shoot forward and out of the special hole we made for you. Then apply the vehicles hand brake and hazard lights and safely retrieve the lost tools using Audi tool reference number VAG-8u11sh1t"
I tell you what, that is not funny. I have cursed more than once then I have dropped a nut/bolt/washer/screwdriver/thingamy (delete as applicable) into my S2 engine bay with the undertray fitted and then have to take the bloody thing off again including jacking up the cars as I can't get underneath it to remove it

BTDT...the other week in fact
So, having a sloped drive, I had an idea....... I turned the car around so it was facing up hill, then allowed the car to roll backwards about 10 feet and then dropped the clutch and launched forwards towards the garage. Took 3 atempts, but it worked
So there you have it, save a £10 quid spanner, but ****** a £150 clutch

I did try that but I have another garage in front of mine 15ft away. Could end up needing new front end for a £0.05p washer!
