Std S2 EM fitted -- smoke - help pls.

    Hey Guys

Removed from my 3b, RS2 EM, so WG, downpipe, turbo off etc and put a std S2 exhaust manifold back on, samco`s off and originals back on and snug, replaced oil feed gaskets, studs where necessary, cant see any oil leak but when engine is hot I get smoke coming from under the turbo area. Copper greased all nuts, bolts etc.

    Cant quite place this?

Any ideas or do I need to be brave and go for a longer blast?

    Also

I took her for a quick blast ( 5 mile lap of the village) and the air feed pipe from IM to IC doesnt get to hot that quickly which is surpising as b4 was piping! Getting 1.5 bar so I hope i havent forgotten anything kinda critical here on re assembly.

    Pointers would be great please.

quite likely all the copper grease burning off,but would be worth taking the airbox etc off to double check there isnt any leaks

Lets hope its just the copper grease burning, I reckon belly pan off and a gander underneath when hot is on the cards then?

      Thanks though

I also agree with spink, think its just some dust etc burning off if it has not been used for a while before you fitted it to yours.

Will have to for a longer undercover run then as sworn at the mo and try and burn it off.

Any ideas why the cross pipe feed to IM is not heating up?

Seems suspect , maybe I just havent heated her up enough.

          Hmmmmm

          ?????

If you check it just after a run then it should be cold as the air from the IC will cool it. If you leave it idling for a few mins then it should be hot.

That'd be my 3B Em then

As stated, probably dust/oil, had a similar 'issue' once with the coupe after cleaning the engine bay and smoke poured out for about 15 minutes once up to temp!

And yeah, it's been sat in my box o' spares since Tom rebuild by Coupe engine back in '06.

                Cheers,

This is normal when you do work on you em / turbo area with greasy hands. No worries, if the smoke hasn't cleared by a day or two , your car will likely already be burnt to a crisp

Seriously.. This is nothing to worry about if the smoke doesn't seem to increase.
