I spoke with basset down in regards to balancing my ADU motor & I have being told that they will not balance a motor with dual mass flywheel, only normal flywheels
If I had to be honest, I've not noticed much difference in vibration between 3B and ABY FWs apart from at 1400-1500rpm. That could be the transmission mounts tho. If it's all getting balanced then it's a win-win decision IMO.

Dual mass flywheels are difficult to balance as the 2 halfs of the flywheel do not end up constantly in the same position, ie: idling and engaging (load) hence difficult to accurately balance, as you cannot simulated load on the balancing machine
Apart from BDB there is another balancer local to me I can ask him, having said that I never had a dual mass flywheel balanced.

Thanks for the repile I would like to keep the dual mass flywheel as i have read other peoples probelms with the 3b convertion & also for driveabilty as this is a road car not track car.
After going through all this work it would be good to have the engine balanced

It seems like a no-brainer to me. Get a stock 3B flywheel and clutch, and get that balanced. Or are you saying a 3B isn't drivable on the road?
After a discussion with aelrad by email, it looks like the way forward will be to convert to a 3b flywheel as i imagine a balanced 3b set up will be better than a unbalanced adu set up.
How about the front pulley, this must need changing also.
