    Febi Lambda probe?

Hi guys, just checked the replacement lambda that was fitted after mine got damaged. It's a Febi, not Bosch. Do Febi make one for the S2? Thoughts? ...

Just checked the family album and it lists the same lambda for all 5 pot cars... b 034 906 265 F. Just trying to find the Febi one to check it's right.

Can't say I've ever seen a febi one fitted.
        Interestingly, there were some changes late on;

034 906 265 F comes up for 3B's and ABY (Coupes only in ABY) until MY1995.
077 906 265 is for the Avant and RS2, but was also used on the ABY Coupe in MY1996. (Doesn't give a chassis number break for the change on the Coupe, so suspect either could be fitted without worry.)

Seem to remember vagparts showing two versions in their site listings, one for the Coupe, one for the avant/RS2 and often wondered why. Thought it may have been the length of the cable, but then the engine bays don't differ.
        Crazy part numbers.

Febi's product search from their site doesn't list anything >>>> Linky

Could it have been a generic one fitted in the past by a previous owner?

Nope, it was fitted after my 2 YO Bosch one was damaged when my exhaust was being made... it's not a major issue but I want to know it's correct as the samllest of things upset these old beasts. Waiting for a reply from the garage too. Connectors are correct for the S2 so that's hopeful at least. Not seen any part numbers on it, it's not exxactly accessible.

Cheers Smiley, you're a star, looks like Febi 21430 is what it should be. Interesting to see how much it is compared to OE, Febi are a good enough make, got plenty of other Febi stuff on the car.

Way to go Smiley, where'd you dig that up from??.
Why do manufacturers have their own sites that don't contain the info???

There are some sites I use (but dont trust at first sight - i always check more than twice before..!!!)
http://autoteile.cc/ (With Artikel-Nr you can search VAG and BOSCH numbers.., per KBA No 0588 575 you get all parts listed for S2 Avant..)

                    http://autoteile-meile.de

                    ...
You will know some links of this type in the uk too..

There are a few sites but they're not so good for showing part numbers .

Not found any prices yet except 180euros on a french site, if it works then might be a cheaper option.

The BOSCH 0 258 986 502 may be more a generic plug, the FEBI might be generic too. I would at least expect some wiring issues.

Nah, all fits 100%, the only issue is that the plugs don't fit in the holders by the scuttle panel. I'll run it and see how I get on, looks like it's 30 euros cheaper (98 vs 127) on the autoteile.cc site so if it lasts then could be a good option.

Forget about the overpriced ones with the connectors. I got one of these for one of the family's Audi chariots and it works great:
                              http://cgi.ebay.com/Top-Quality-Oxyg...QQcmdZViewItem

5 minutes with the soldering iron and some heat shrink and you are good to go

BTW, on the RS2 I'm running a non heated single wire type that was laying in my box from the days when my Golf was running a narrow band. With sensor placement in such a hot place, it heats up in no time anyway, and with E85, the few extra seconds of open loop is probably just for the good.
