    Injector Cleaning

I am thinking of having the injectors cleaned in my S6, as it is now just clocked over ‘113800 miles’ and since the car will not be used for a few weeks again. I was wondering, apart from replacing the injector seals for when I fit them back, is there anything else worth doing too? (The last item remaining from last lot of works on the car)

I am going to use the following company “ http://www.injectorcleaning.co.uk/index.htm “ to clean them. How much fuel will flow when I remove them? (Battery disconnected of course!)

    Regards,

    Andy H.

Not much fuel will come out, i would de pressurise the system first, easiest place to do it would be the fuel filter (left hand inner wing) just undo one of the banjo bolts a bit and catch the excess with a rag.

The ASNU system is by far the best. Don't know where you are in Kent but these guys have the Asnu cleaner might be worth giving them a call and see if they do a while you wait service- it only takes an hour or so to clean and service the injectors.

Would save the hassle of postage and having the car off the road.
Worth fitting a new fuel filter before the new injectors are installed.

just curious, how bad were your injectors before they were cleaned according to there before and after flow details ? Was the car much smoother at idle/ better generally after ?

clipped from my project Can of Worms thread:

Also had the injectors serviced and arrived back this morning, top service and quick turnaround. All been flow tested:

                  Before
                  1 - 84cc flow
                  2 - 82cc
                  3 - 83cc
                  4 - 84cc
                  5 - 81cc

                  After:
All 85cc flow tested at 3bar for 30secs following a 30min ultrasonic clean.

New filter baskets, top and bottom seals, pintle caps were fitted to complete the service.

All original injectors and mileage wise about 175k prior to servicing them if that helps........?

                  Cheers
                  David

Had an injector cleaning rig where i used to work- most injectors flowed well enough(except the odd really scrap ones) but the main difference before and after cleaning was with the spray pattern.
Some injectors flowed the same fuel- but the spray patterns were all over the place!
                    Like in this pic:http://www.injectorcleaning.co.uk/spray.htm
Most cars are smoother running and use less fuel after cleaning as the patterns are optimised and spraying into the correct areas, rather than spraying everywhere.

It is extremely rare for a set of injectors to all be flowing the exact same amount after they have been cleaned. Hence why you need several sets of injectors of the same part number in order to pick and choose enough to make up a matched set
