    Ignition timing and VagCom

    I was wondering...
can someone verify if the ignition timing that can be seen on the VAGCOM log(cant remember which one it is though, but there is one),is the one that is given through the mapping?
For example if i were to copy the degrees of timing i see on the vagcom to use on an aftermarket ECU,could i do it from there?

You can log the degrees through vagcom and see the degrees throughout the rev range,so could that be used?

    cheers

why dont you just get a full ignition map from a close setup engine like yours? after you can start to play with angles.

that is what i will do most likely, but i since my knowledge is limited at this stage as far as tuning and mapping,im going to need all the info i can get!

HINT - the actual ignition timing doesn't come from a single map - that would just be too easy...

paul may help you here but its a bit of a secret in general timing.

maybe worth a try but could be pretty time consuming

if you can log the timing results with vagcvom and then put them into a grid of map load over rpm on excel you can then develop a ignition map.

you will have incomplete cells. the engine doesnt go into those areas its that simple. you may need to populate some of them at a later date if not all.

              passes some time whilst off
