    'LPG' - Anyone !

    Guys,

    Seasons greetings to all.

I am considering buying an LPG converted, 2007 Vectra Estate, for work.
The tank is fitted in the spare wheel hole. The car has less than 20K miles.

What do I need to look out for, as I have never driven/owned/maintained, a LPG car?

    Any help please.

    Regards

    Imran.

Hmm these are the question I'd ask, Diesel Des is your man though

Have the installation has been certified and who installed it?

What is the size of tank?

Normally what was the date of installation? LPG tanks have a 10 year life and need to be replaced but if it's a 2007 car then I this is a mute point.

Then there's other little things to check for or ask like does it start on petrol then automatically switch to LPG or is it a manual cut over.

Does it use a flash lube system?

when you say it has been converted, do mean aftermarket? as vauxhall have been selling dual fuel vehicles straight out of the factory for at least 6 years that i know of.If so you are unlikely to have much trouble from a 1 year old model plus it will be still under warranty.

        Thanks for the help chaps.

It was not a factory fit job, but the seller told me he has a certificate for the install, & a 2 year warranty.

Not sure on the exact size of tank, but it is fitted in the spare wheel compartment.

I was basically just trying to get the pros, & cons, of LPG, & justify moving away from diesel!.

I will contact the chap, & ask for specific details on the conversion.

        Cheers

Car should drive and feel like it does on petrol. Nothing really to look for other that an obviously untidy install, eg wires every place etc. A gas filter gets changed every 10K of so, but they are like £4.

I have considered an LPG kit instead of a 2nd car but kit prices are going up and up and up!

If interested Jamo i could get you in contact with the guy that sold me mine. You could get the bits to run a chipped RS2 spec car for £750-1K. Then you need to fit them, but its not wild hard if you have a clue about engines/electrics.

Ive considered it several times and mouting the tank in the spare wheel location in the coupe since you can get vertical toroidal tanks too.
