    Engine questions

    Hello there!
I'm a proud owner of a Audi Coupe typ'89, and a sad wannabe racer with the NG engine

I know this is a S2 forum but i have posted almost everywhere else about this to no avail.

    To our subject now...
Lately i have been having some fuel consumption problems and my engineer is "almost" absolutely positive that its this part that causes the problems.

Could you please tell me the English name for this? I am from Greece and you rarely find a car tech that can tell you the name for different stuff in my car.

I checked with my local Audi representative and i dont think they even know what a Audi Coupe is

Also an engine type of question.

Is there a word to describe the whole fromt part of the car, which houses the engine, ECU, cables etc?

I can only find parts for my car from Germany or England(in the parts that aren't restricted due to LHD/RHD) and i am really thinking of removing the mule that has become of my NG engine and fitting the natural aspirated monster for its time, the 7A. I could also go for the 2 litre NM engine but the Greek government wont accept lowering your cc's in a car. Nice eh?

Anyways, If someone has any reccomendations about where to look for such an engine and what exactly i should point out to the dealer so that i get what i need, please reply.

    Thanks,
    Andrew

The English name for the part you have highlighted in your photo is "fuel metering head" or "fuel metering distributor"

I have an NG Coupe myself as a daily driver so I'm quite familiar with them. How many miles has the car done? Also has anyone ever messed about with the fuel metering head?

As far as im concerned... It hasnt been tampered with...

The previous user treated the car like real crap, meaning he would constantly burnout the car when it was still cold. Of course i was notified of that after i got the car.

On the dash the dials say 153.000km but i highly doubt its the real mileage. I don't get the feel of 136 BHP when i accelerate and recently i tested it on a highway and the max speed on a downhill kind of road was 180km/h.

Right now it will consume about 16-17lt/100km, which is 50% more than what it normally should...

Emissions are proper, but i do get occasional backfire in the exhaust at around 2000-3000 RPM with throttle released.

The car is wearing a Borla exhaust system, the fun part of it though is that half way from the engine to the catalyst the exhaust is welded

      Go figure...

Hmm that is thirsty, what sort of state is the Lambda sender in? If the exhaust has been bodged is the Lambda still there? If anyone in the past has tried to "modify" the metering head then it's most likely knackered as it's very sensitive and won't take kindly to be messed about with unless it by some who knows what their doing.
