    2.3 10v Engine Mods

I been doing something dangerous recently and was thinking about getting more BHP for the Quattro.

What cheap performance mods are there for the 2.3 10v engine?

I have a K&N panel filter (should i upgrade to induction kit?) plus may be getting my hands on a stainless exhaust in the future. What other options do i have that wont break the bank?

Plus what engine code is my 2.3 10v?

If it's pre 1990 then probably a KV if it's post 1990 then it's most likely an NG. You can not fit induction kit's to K-Jetronic engines, at least not as far as I Know. I personally hate the dam things anyway all noise and more often than not less performance. The exhaust won't do any harm at all, whilst your at it I'd decat it and replace the Lambda sensor, that is if it's an NG, I don't think the KV has a cat but I'm not 100% on that.

NA tuning is always the same. More displacement is always good. Then it's flowed head, cam, larger valves, port matched inlet, decent tubular EM and correctly designed system to create a bit of back pressure, lightened flywheel / internals etc.

With K-Jet you can get the warm up regulator altered to use the warm up injector as a 5th or in this case 6th injector. K-Jet is also quite tuneable just make sure you find someone who knows the system well so you'll get the most out of it.

You can drill the base of the metering head, it'll make the best noise ever then, 16mm and 25mm holes are best Done that to a KV, PB, ABY, 3F, EX, 9A and a host of other engines with the same results.

If you can afford a cam and some rolling road time then you'll see good results, that's where my money would go assuming your car is in A1 health (plugs, oil, leads, dizzy etc. etc.)

Yep that's all good advice, I had an after market cam in my previous KV Coupe and it made a noticeable difference to the top end, not that earth shattering though.

As Andy says you could do a lot worse than treating it to a new HT circuit and getting set up correctly.

Cam wise it depends if it's the 2226 or the larger 2.3. From experience with GOlfs the 270 works best with the longer stroke 2.0 and the 285 spec runs best with teh 1.8 as it revs better, will reduce low end but that 3k to 7k band will be entirely worth it. Makes more noise too
