Having removed the cylinder head and generally cleaned it up, I am now ready to start stripping it. Information that would be useful would be:
Valve spring height - easiest way to measure, what is it when new, at what measurement should they be changed?
Valve seat cutting and valve lapping. Is this something that should only be carried out by an engine centre. What are the options eg 2 angle, three angle. What are the angles. Are the seats, valves or both cut at more than one angle? (excuse the ignorance, I've normally just ground the valves in).
Exhaust studs. I've snapped three, one quite close to the head. Any suggestions on removal? Should I use an easyout, I've heard different views on these.
Valve guides. It was suggested that these should be reamed out rather than pulled out on an alloy head. Any views?
There's probably more questions to ask, but that will do until I start to take it all apart.
Thanks
Alistair
