    ABY Engine Harness/Loom Question

    Gents & Ladies...

    I've located an ABY loom stateside for my perpetual conversion.
    The problem is that the current owner doesn't have the short section that plugs into the main harness at the firewall.

    What is included in that small harness?
    Does anyone have a lead on where to source it?

    Thanks!

    Sorry Peter - can you elaborate on that some more ?

    I have a spare ABY loom here - for a future project ... I can look at it in detail if you steer me the right direction.

      Paul:

      The 3B and ABY S2 harnesses differ from the 200 3b and the C4 AAN harnesses in that they have two sections, with two round multi pin connectors at the firewall.

      I think on my 3B loom the short section included the knock sensors or the transmission timing sensors ( going by memory)

      The seller of the ABY harness only has the main section ( which has the fuel injectors, MAF and throttle connectors, etc.)

      I would like to know what's included in the short section so I can decide whether I can either obtain or fabricate one (purchasing the round connectors new might be impossible)

      Thanks!

        Sounds like you only got the engine loom, there are two round plugs at the firewall thats joins to the loom inside the car for the ECU and fusebox. You will need the other half.

        7A loom on the other hand is one complete unit including the wiring for the starter motor, take care in removing it as you will have to separate the starter wiring and add it to the ABY loom.

            Ahhh sounds like we are talking about T8e and T8f...

            Let me see if I can get some pics and maybe a part number if there is a legible sticker on that section.

              I believe you're looking for pictures of these two connectors.

              I am also looking to buy them, both connectors male and female sides. One of mine started to arc across the pins causing battery drain.

              Hope this helps

                  That little ABY extension loom with female termination at T8e and T8f does indeed have a sticker - 895 971 066 B (kinda gnarly to read actually)

                  The cylinder connectors as follows -

                  Female = 443 972 984 (2-required)
                  Male = 443 972 983 (2-reqd)
                  Hood = 443 906 102 F (4-req'd)

                      Thanks Paul!

                      Now where can I purchase one? lol.
                      Interesting that the part numbers for the connectors begin with 443 (assume type 44?)

                        My old version of family album (cousin KATE) tells me it is still available from Audi and about GBP150 plus tax is/was the sticker price.

                          OMG 150 GBP for that short section?
                          How would I best enquire for a USED version of the section?

                          I would assume that the small loom isnt typically sold separately by breakers?

                            I very much doubt that you will every get that short section for the engine sensors seperate as its only any good with the whole loom. I think the £150 is not that bad as the whole looms going to be some thing like 1000+

                              Actually - I thought £150 wasn't so bad either in this crazy climate... I know its only a little section of cable...

                              If all the connectors were available from new I could easily make a clone of that lil loom - but for the time required to do a nice job and test it - it would be cheaper to just buy it.
