Rs2 Turbo Output - dual chip set - help

    This may sound silly but

Read Pauls threads on variable chipsets and after talking to my insurance company to go full beans 365 BHP will cost me just too much on the insurance.

    So

I was thinking and especially as the engine is coming out to fit rs2 oem clutch, that I would attach the RS2 turbo etc at the same time but run at a lower output (300 bhp), so nicer than standard k24.

That way when in scooby land I could switch to Sport chipset for 365bhp and a definite " unluuuuuuuuuuuucky" salute at the scoob.

    Is this possible?

    Many thanks

So running full 365hp on the odd occasion doesnt need declaring to the insurance?. You may as well not tell them at all, and yes you are silly

I'm sure, of course, that the only time you'd be switching the chipset is when you are on a track day? I guess the idea works but I'd doubt "custom turbo with tuning to 300BHP" would come in much cheaper with the insurance company than 365...

a standard 95 impreza will make 365 with a boost controller fcd and afr and an uprated fuel pump and exhaust.

i hope luck is on your side

just out of interest if it was a 365bhp spec s2(rs2 setup) vs the impreza which would be the better car, presume impreza for corners etc and s2 for power.

the impreza would win to 100 or so easy. handling the impreza would win.

over the 100 mark the gearing and design would give an S the edge.

5 speed uk subs top out at 145ish.
6 speeders ive done 160 in. the gearing however is so much shorter unitl 6th.

you feel like your rowing a 6 speeder lots to get to 100.

its an easy transplant on a subaru the 5 to 6 speed and the brakes just bolt up.

i couldn't live with the poor quality of a subaru everyday though.

You have forgot to mention, that scooby will drop gears from the gbox even faster than it will get to 100. Don't know how in the UK, but here it seems, that subaru was making gearboxes from plastic...
